Dear Oracle DBA’s,
I was one among the lucky person's. who got an opportunity to become a Programmer then a DBA and then an Oracle Applications DBA.for this like anybody I had to work very hard.I have even cleared my oracle 9i DBA certification. I have 4+ years of IT DBA experience in Big Size Company but, by fate I don’t have any University Degree or a proper educational background. So, guys in this world do you think will I be offered an equivalent job in any respective organization? Do you think I still have a future as a DBA? Pls. put your comments because your comments are definitely going to matter somebody very much.
Thanks in advance.
An oracle DBA.

I have Masters, OCP 9i certification and 3 years solid PL/SQL development. Resume is out on the Internet over a month. Did not get a single call that fits my profile.
Just to let you guys know I applied on
monster.com and not on monster.mars.com

I am Oracle DBA OCP in 9i and 8i. I am in Canada since the last three years looking for a job as an Oracle DBA. No success so far. I wonder about the usefulness of these certifications. In Canada it is hopelesss. Can anybody throw some light.

Hey!
I think the future of dba jobs resides in having multiple clients... or in consulting firms... Because the customers don't need as many DBAs as they used to need... The tools they use are now doing a big chunk of our work (the part that we all hate) and now we can work in tuning, debugging, installing and patching... And sometimes desing and do some architectural work...
I live in Quebec city and I looked for a DBA position last fall and found many... But underpaid...
I wish you luck in our search!
