Has anyone recently migrated an oracle 8i database from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7? Any problems? Helpful documentation? Thanks.

I did an "in-line" upgrade from 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 and it went reasonably well.

First BACKUP your DATABASE and software. Second you shut down the Oracle instance. Do NOT de-install any software. Install the 8.1.7 software.

Then manually run the upgrade script, in your case, u0801050.sql as explained in the Chapter7: Upgrading from a Previous Version 8 Release to the New Oracle8i Release, Upgrade the Database Manually.

I would like to have some advices from you. This is my my first experience migrating Oracle and this is the scenario:
We have JDEdwards and Oracle database sharing the Enterprise server and the idea is to isolate Oracle in a new server to improve performance and maintenance. Also we will upgrade Oracle from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7.
I'm reading a lot of document to perform this migration and upgrade but I would like to be in touch to discuss some issues.
