unable to use data access control (oradc.ocx) with VB6 [message #102074]

Message: "License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropiate license to use this functionality in the design environment", when I'm trying to use the data control on a VB6 form (on Windows2000 platform).

I found this file in 2 places:
C:/Oracle/Ora81/BIN/oradc.ocx version 3.6.0.0 modif. 02/02/2000
C:/winnnt/system32/oradc.ocx version 3.4.0.0 modif. 1999

I placed the newer version of oradc.ocx file in system32 and with regsvr32.exe I registered the file (succesfully), and I still get the same message.

Can anyone help?

Fix:

I registered oip8.dll (drag this file over regsvr32.exe or from Start, Run: regsvr32.exe oip8.dll) and I ran oo4oparm.reg (Oracle/oracle81/oo4o location)

sorry to tell you that your soultion is not working either. i am still getting the same problem "license not FOUND!!!"

Find the following file in Oracle installation and put it in WindowsSystem32 folder:

ORADC.LIC

after I put the file ORADC.LIC in the WindowsSystem32 folder from oracle folder, it is working fine,

If you are on Windows 7, put the Oradc.lic file under Windows/syswow64

IIRC, Windows 7 did not yet exist in 2003 when this thread was last accessed.

I completely agree that IIRC and Windows 7 did not exist in 2003. I inherited some legacy code and this was the fix for my problem. I posted my message to help anyone else who might run into the problem in the future.

Hi, everyone!
What should I do if there is no such file - oradc.ocx? I installed oracle 12 and have an excel macro which was made for oracle 11/ So when i tried to run it I got an error - missing oradc.ocx.
I've downloaded all available peckages from oracle website but still there is no such file in any of it.
Please help me Smile

Please confirm you searched it in all Oracle files, maybe it is not missing just not registered.

I searched in drive C. It's missing. And I already tried to reinstall and install everything- still the same.

That file is not part of the Oracle 12 client installation or many of the previous. I think it was from Oracle 8. I kept the oradc.ocx and oradc.lic from previous Operating Systems. I drag it along with my project.
