I'm using Access 2002 with SP 3 on WinXP Pro.

I've tried using both the Oracle ODBC driver (sqora32.dll 9.2.0.3) and the Microsoft ODBC driver (msorcl32.dll 2.573.9030.0) and have the same problem with both.

With a pass-through query and no sum() function on a number(11,2) column the query works fine, but as soon as I use the sum() function the query won't work and all I get is "invalid precision for decimal data type".

The same query with the sum function works fine in SQL+ and Navigator.

I am getting the same error in Access 2000 running on Xp. The query works ok with Access 97. What is the solution?

Hi,

I am getting the same error on a passthrough query to Oracle. I didn't realize it might have something to do with Sum() type function. I'm running Access 2000 on a Win@000 PC.

Has anyone given any clues as how to avoid this error?
