I am having a problem opening the Oracle database.  I installed it, and when I go to the Oracle DBA Studio, I can connect to the database, but when I try to open it, it gives me the following message:

ORA-01033, ORA-12500 and ORA-12560.

Can anyone help me to solve the problem?

Hi
If you'r able to connect, the database have to be mounted.
The errors you list looks like your not able to connect (and in fact not able to tell the status of the database, i.e started, mounted or open).
Go check the SQLNet connection by using the LSNRCTL commandline utility.

If u'r using TCP/IP network:
1: Check the TCP/IP connection to the host
2: Check that the listener are running
3: Set up the correct TNS definitions
4: Check the listener configuration by using LSNRCTL
5: Now you should be able to connect

Thanks for your help.  I've tried to connect the database, but it didn't work.  The process stop at started.  I couldn't connect the database.  But, I checked the lsnrctl was started. Do I need to un/reinstall the Oracle 8.1.7?

Hi Vincent,

Before you reinstall, try using svrmgrl (server manager line-mode). Using this you can try startup the instance and īthen the database eliminating any listerner/SQL*Net malfunctions.
If you can start the database using svrmgrl you can go on and set up the listener and after that configure the client(s) and the hopefully you'r up and running
;-)
