Hi all.

Trying to install Oracle Personal Edition 8.1.7 to Windows 2000 Pro. I have the requirements installation suggests. Pentium 4, lots of space, 256 colours, etc.

The problem is that when I start the installation, the CD runs but stops after about a minute and nothing has been installed.

Please help. Thanks.

Paul

Hi,

This sounds very much like the famous Ora8i/P4 bug. Read Metalink Note 131299.1: "ALERT: Oracle Installer 8.1.X Hangs on Machines with Pentium 4 Processors".

Best regards.

Hi,
This is a known bug with P4 machines...there are many workround...the simplest of them is...

Copy the CD content to your harddrive...search for file symcjit.dll...you will have 2 files...just rename them & now click setup from the base directory...it will work

Bye
