Please help.

System: Windows 2000 SP4

Oracle 8i 8.1.7 (client, applications)

MS ODBC version: MSORCL10.DLL (2.00.00.6325) and the same problem with MSORCL32.DLL (2.575.1022.00)

Sympton: when I try to setup the DNS in ODBC admnistrator (DNS System-add), I get the message "The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found. These components are supplid by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle 7.3(or greater) client software installation. You will be unable to use this driver until these components have installed."

I download most recent version of MS MDAC components and I check folder permissions, according to some recomendations I found on the net. Nothing.

I checked with a system utility (filemon) and realized that, actually, the system is looking for old libraries: CORE34.DLL, CORE34O.DLL, NLNT.DLL, NLSRTL31.DLL, NSNT.DLL, NTNT.DLL, NTTNT.DLL, ORA72.DLL, ORANT71.DLL, SQLTNSNT.DLL

I tried copying these files from and old system (Win98+Oracle7) and this way I could setup the DNS. But I don't think I'm addressing the problem this way and the application I'm trying to use won't start anyway.

Any suggestion?
