Greetings,
I'm fairly new to Oracle and have been tasked to install Oracle for a production machine. We are installing Oracle Enterprise Edition and I am woundering if all componets are required or if there is a minimal install of components that I can do. Also any security tips/Hardening for Oracle on Windows 2000 would be appreciated as well.
Thank you in advance.
D.

components are really options.
depending on your need, you can have them.
generally, i would remove all the default and sample schemas except sys and system (OFCOURSE!!).
the other schemas will be crated according to the options you choose.~
if you want to use OMS , the u have to install EM tools and oms, etc et..

and there are no special security stuff that oracle has specifically for windows.
If you can secure your windows Box, oracle is secure.
and the best way to secure a windows box is to plug it away from network...
all general oracle security concepts ( decrypted communications, RSA etc) will apply to windows machine too.
