Hi there,

I am totally new to Oracle databases, have downloaded and installed Oracle 9i lite and would like to start SQL Plus. I know username is Scott, pw is tiger but what is the host name? When I type in my computername I always get a no listener error although a listener is configured (port 1521).

please help!
regards,
Peter

It appears to me as if Oracle 9i Lite is not complete at all. it has no lsnrctl utility or names.exe. What else do you need to get it up and running on Windows 2000?

You want to install and run Oracle Personal not Oracle Lite. Lite is for notebook computers. Personal is for stand alone use.
