I don't know if this can be answered simply but here's my question...

I want to install Oracle 8i personal on my XP laptop. I want to configure it so that I can create and modify databases on my local machine for the purposes of learning SQL and Oracle in general. I've used oracle before but I was attaching to a database that was configured at work by people who know about these things :).

Can anyone tell me or point me to a HOWTO doc that could tell me how to accomplish this task?

Thank you!
Val

pretty easy. get the CD and install it.
If you are going for personal oracle, u need to click on the options ( not much configuraiton is needed).
go for typical installation.
