Oracle8i 8.1.7 installation with XP Professional [message #100263]

I'm trying to install Oracle8i 8.1.7 Personal Edition on my system. The OS is Windows XP Professional. The Univeral Install GUI opens, but after I click install/deinstall the window closes and nothing happens. Any ideas?

I was able to resolve my issue using the solution in the following message:

However, once it was installed, it is was necessary to set the property of sql*plus to run under Windows 2000.
