Has anyone else run into the following problem:
Using Excel 97, I have been able to create a query using Data -> Get External Data -> Create New Query.
But if, after having returned the data to Excel, I want to modify the query, using Data -> Edit Query does nothing.
(The message "Waiting for data to be returned from Microsoft Query" appears briefly in the Status Bar, but MS/Query does not launch).
This seems to be a problem ever since we installed the ODBC driver for the Oracle 8 database (8.01.66.00). The application is running on a P4, with Windows NT 4 SP6. This problem has appeared on a number of workstations using the same ODBC driver.

With respect to not being able to EDIT a query within Excel 97, we have tickets open with both Oracle and Microsoft, who have finally been able to reproduce this in the lab. We are still waiting for both firms to establish what needs to be corrected and for any patches to be made available.

Have you tried updating your Oracle ODBC driver to 8.01.07.00 in SQORA32.DLL dated 5/11/00?
I don't have that problem, and my machine matches your OS config and Office suite config, with the exception of your Oracle Driver being used.
