Oracle ODBC and Long Raw fields problems. [message #99984]

I am having a problem with inserting data into a long raw field into an Oracle 8 database using rdo from VB6. This problem only seems to occur using the Oracle ODBC 8.01.66.0.0 driver. The same code works fine using the Oracle73 ver2.5 driver (2.05.03.01).

The error message I receive is

S1000: [[Oracle]][[ODBC]][[Ora]]ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure

Can anyone help.

Try with Oracle ODBC driver 8.1.6.3.
