Hi,
I am having trouble in installing Oracle 8 Personal onto a WIN2000 machine. Very early in the

installation
process, when the dependencies for SQL*Net Client are
being analyzed I recieve the following error message ..

stopsrvc,vrf[[78]]: Type mismatch in argument '0'
when calling 'contains'
stopsrvc.vrf[[78]]: 'STRING' expected when 'LIST'
found

At this point the installation terminates.

Any guidance would be much appreciated

Suddha

I also have this problem. Did anyone find a solution ? Version 8.1.7 Personal Edition works fine but not version 8.0. I need to use 8.0.

I can't give you the minimum requirements, but I have found the only way for it to work on XP is by installing in a certain order, as follows:

Oracle Installer...
Net8...
SQL Plus...

Installed in any other order, it does not play nicely.

Good luck!
