Hello,
This is quite a stupid question but its said that the most stupid question is the one thats not asked. Anyways,I am a student and my interest in Oracle prompted me to load a free Oracle 8.0 version on Windows 2000.Needless to say no Scott/Tiger or System /Manager worked. After some research, came to know that Oracle 8.0 does not work on Windows 2000.My problems dont end there. The uninstaller on the free CD does not work and I have enough data on my comp to do a windows 2000 restore. Please advice
Thanks in advance
Anand

Here is the methode which can help you.
1. Deinstall using Oracle Universal Installer (OUI): Follow the deinstall
process defined for each of the Oracle products that you want to delete.
Follow the deinstall steps indicated in the appropriate product documentation
to do this. This step will disable the Oracle product being used.
2. Login: Login as Administrator into the NT system.
3. Stop Oracle Services: Choose Start-->Settings-->Control Panel--
>Services. Stop all Oracle Services before proceeding to the next step.
4. NT Registry Entries: Choose Start Run type in regedit.exe and hit
enter. This step is necessary to remove Oracle software information from the
NT registry.
a. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, highlight and delete the folder
“ORACLE” if it exists.
b. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, Apache Group, Apache, 1.X.X.
Verify if the “ServerRoot” path points to an existing ORACLE_HOME. If
it does, then highlight the top level folder “Apache Group” and delete
the entire folder.
c. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, Classes. scroll down and delete
any folders that start with “Ora” if it exists.
d. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurentControlSet, Services, scroll
down and delete any service folders that start with “Ora” if any exist.
Repeat these steps for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, ControlSet <XXX> if it
exists.
e. HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, highlight and delete the folder
“ORACLE” if it exists.
f. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, scroll down and delete all folders starting with
“Ora” or “ORCL” if it exists.
5. Environment Settings: Choose Start Settings Control Panel System
(Environment Tab). Check if the any of the following exists. If they do,
delete them.
a. DISCO_JRE
b. DISCO_VBROKER
c. VBROKER_JAVAVM
d. VBROKER_TAG
e. WV_GATEWAY_CFG
6. Environment Settings: In the same Environment Tab, remove all path
strings to any previous ORACLE_HOME paths. Here is an example:
a. Example of Path without modifications by Oracle:
1. %SystemRoot%system32;%SystemRoot%
b. Example of an “Oracle modified” Windows NT Path:
1. E:oracledcpc817bin;E:orac
ledcpc817ApachePerl5.00503binmswin32-
x86;C:ProgramFilesOraclejre1.1.7bin;%SystemRoo
t%system32;%SystemRoot%
7. Oracle User: Choose Start Programs Administrative Tools (common)
User Manager for Domains Highlight the appropriate User From the User
drop down menu off the toolbar at the top, click on Delete.
8. Oracle User(s) specific folders: Click on Start Programs Windows NT
Explorer. Open C:WINNT, Profiles. Here delete each folder for the Oracle
Users removed in the previous step.
9. Oracle Program Folders: Choose Start Programs Windows NT
Explorer. Open C:WINNT, Profiles, All Users, Start Menu, Programs. Right
click on each “Oracle” Application program related folder and choose delete.
10. Oracle applications at “Start up”: Choose Start Programs
Windows NT Explorer. Open C:WINNT, Profiles, All Users, Start Menu,
Programs, Startup. Right click on each “Oracle” related icon and choose
delete.
11. Oracle Folders under Temp: Choose Start Programs Windows NT
Explorer. Open C:Temp. Delete the directory “Install Guide” and “OraInstall”
if either one of them exists.
12. Oracle Home directories from the Hard Drive: Choose Start
Programs Windows NT Explorer. Delete any C:Oracle*, C:Program
FilesOracle*, or any other existing ORACLE_HOME directories on ALL Hard
Drives.
13. Reboot: Choose Start Shutdown Restart and reboot the Operating
System.

This works great if you follow each step!!! One additional step at 12.5 Choose Start,Search, Files or Folders. Search under 'ora' and delete any remaining files, I found 215 in one orac... folder.
Thanks like you don't know how!
