I'm having a problem with the Installer not running in Oracle 9i for NT/2000. I'm running Windows 2000 Professional on a Pentium II 350 MHz machine. At first I thought the problem was the Pentium II, but Oracle's documentation doesn't mention this (i.e., Pentium II) as a problem and states that only a minimal MHz needs to be met, which my Pentium II does meet. I'm also loading this on a second hard drive, but I don't believe this is a problem either. I also checked the installer with Oracle 8.0.5 in Windows 2000 and it starts, although I terminated the install as I want to set up 9i. Any help would be much appreciated.

I did encounter the same problem on Pentium IV machine. There is a workaround for Pentium IV. I am not sure the workaround will help for Pentium II. Please see http://support.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/issues.htm
Secondly, as per the checklist available in the following site, your hardware is not enough to handle the oracle9i. Please refer http://cisnet.baruch.cuny.edu/holowczak/oracle/install/9i/

THANKS for the pointer.
I found a second Intel article regarding Oracle installation problems with Pentium IV processors. The article is titled, "Known software issue with Oracle 8i* installation". (We are having trouble installing Oracle 9i, but the article you pointed us to and this article seem to explain the situation pretty well.)
URL for the article I found is http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sb/9011824413236561-prd24.htm
