Hi ,
I have to 3 database instances of Oracle 8.1.7 on HPUX
server. I have to upgrade these to Oracle 9.2
THe recommended kernel configuration in the
installation docs specifies the values when one
instance is running on the server.
Are there any specicifc changes that have to be made
to the kernel configuration if there is more than
one db instance running on the same server.
Thanks,
Nick

Hi,

According to the Oracle Installation Guide,

"The parameters in the following table are the recommended values to run Oracle9i with a single database instance on HP."

Nevertheless, these kernel parameters should be sufficient for running multiple Oracle instances. I'm not aware of any precise way to calculate kernel parameter settings in advance, except trail and error.

Best regards.
