Hi,

I would be pleased, if you could help me solving my prob.

I'd like to install 8.1.7-client (programmer) onto an unix-server, but
installation stops at 92% when 'Protocol Support' should be installed. So I
decided to install portions separatly by installing custom-client without
installing 'Protocol Support'. Everthing works fine.
Then I'd like to finish installation by installing the missing packet, but
that dammed thread never came back:

/tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/../bin/PA_RISC/native_threads/jre -n

----the logging of installation-process ended with:-----------------

Hi,

with the help of my collegue we got the answer:

---------------------snip----------------------
=== Technical Follow Up ===
Title: Oracle Universal Installer Hangs on HP-UX
fact: Oracle Universal Installer 8.1
fact: JAVAINST
fact: HP 9000 Series HP-UX 11.0
symptom: Oracle Universal Installer hangs
symptom: installActions.log contains "Calling query Protocol_Queries1.1.1
DetectNetworkProtocols"
cause: There is a hanging process (swlist) spawned from Universal Installer
fix: Run
ps -ef | grep swlist
to get the process ID, then issue
kill -9 <PID>
for the swlist process.
The Universal Installer will continue with the installation.
*
.
Please try the above workaround.
.
thanks Henrik
