Hi there,

We are getting a SQLException: protocol violation error in our middleware layer. This error does not happen very often, in fact 99% of the time the transactions are successful. However every now and again we get one of these protocol violations - always for the same record(s). I've read on some message boards that the problem is due to the jdbc drivers conflicting with the oracle database version. However, this doesn't sound quite right in our case, as the transactions work 99% of the time - surely they would fail all the time with a conflict?

Are there any suggestions as to how we can fix this?

We are using Java 1.3.1 with the classes111.zip jdbc connecting to oracle 8.1.6.0.0.

Thanks in anticipation.
Richard
