I am passing in a single (e.g 'M' for Meter) character from an oracle trigger into a stored procedure which is to be loaded into Oracle via loadjava.

The problem here is what is the equivalent datatype that is to be used in java - char or String which is to be used during parameter passing?

example - Oracle

create or replace function XYZ(unit char)return number as language java name 'class.method(????)return java.lang.Double';
/

example - Java

public static double method(???) // should the ??? a char or String?
{
...
}
