I found taking backup through the conventional method is easier than going for RMAN utility. Is there any particular situation where I need to use RMAN? Except the facility of taking incremental backup.

Reduced redo generation during hotbackups, good integration with tape backup softwares, block integrity checks during backups, reporting, easier test restores/recoveries,backup validation, block media recovery etc etc..
