Sir,

I tried to create a database from the exiting database by using Database Configuration Assistant.  The template has been created with existing data objects.  But at the time of creating database, after giving global database name and SID, the following error occurred:

UNKNOWN ERROR WHILE TRYING TO ACCESS THE DIRECTORY SERVICE

Can I expect answers for this error?

bye

Amudan

Did you specify that naming method other than "local" on one of the screens or in the sqlnet.ora file? It sounds like it could be trying to access an Oracle Names Server or ODS (LDAP server) for names resolution rather than tnsnames.ora.
