How to calculate the max value which can be assigned to 'process= ' in the init.ora file?

The max value of PROCESSES init.ora parameter is operating system dependent,specifically max semaphores in case of Unix OS.

You will need to size this parameter based on the number of sessions,oracle background & auxillary processes,job queue processes,pq processes,dedicated or shared etc for that instance.
