Is there a way to setup Discoverer without granting excessive security authorities?
My development team is asking for select all tables, create/drop tables/Resource and many other ALL/ANY authorities our shop does not allow.
Any help would be appreciated.

Glen,
What we do is have a DEVELOPMENT instance for the developers that has all the authorities you mention. The PRODUCTION instance has the authorities granted to just those tables that are actually used in the Discoverer Business Areas, not all tables as in the development instance.
The development instance contains data that is a snapshot of the production data, so that there is information for the Discoverer workbooks to return when developing.
Before new Workbooks & Business Areas can be rolled out to the PRODUCTION instance for actual use, the developers must let the DBA know what additional tables (if any) need grants in order to allow access via Discoverer.
Hope that gives you some ideas.
Todd
