Hi All
I have been trying to input chinese data in the Oracle database but have got no luck yet. I have changed the NLS_CHARACTERSET of the database to UTF8 but that does not seem to resolve the problem. There are no presentation issues on my system as in the OS is capable of diplaying chinese fonts. Does this have anything to do with the NLS_LANG setting too ? Rite now my DB has American settings for NLS_LANG.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Not sure what version of the DB you are using. But, for example if you use Oracle 9i, you should read the "Oracle9i Database Globalization Support Guide".
The following is supported for 9i:
Language: SIMPLIFIED and TRADITIONAL CHINESE
Territory: CHINA
Character Sets:
ZHT16BIG5 for BIG5 16-bit Traditional Chinese
ZHS16CGB231280 for CGB2312-80 16-bit Simplified Chinese
Best of luck.
Frank
