Hi all
Can any one give me the basic steps for replication. And what is the main difference between replication and snapshort. Can u suggest any good book on that. Its an assignment for me.

1. Create a dblink to the master site on the remote site.
2. Create a snapshot log on the master site.
3. Create snapshot on the remote site.

Replication is a terminolgy that is used when u maintain the copy of the data in a different database to improve performance.

Snapshot is the object name that holds the copy.

Go thru the oracle documentation or refer rama velpuri's oracle backup and recovery handbook for 8i.
