Despite the tool support and the availability of the
replication API I consider it extremely burdensome to
add a new snapshot site to an existing advanced
replication environment. Is there anybody out there
who ever tried to set up a new site from a set of
dumps (application schema + repadmin schema) of an
existing snapshot site ? Any ideas, Eddy ?

Hello Joachim,

I think that the problem described by you pushed the guys from Oracle to implement the "Deployment Templates". Unfortunately it is a new feature (for Oracle 8.1.5 and above), so you can't use it with the Oracle 8.0.x.
You can take a look in the Oracle documentation:
http://otn.oracle.com/doc/server.815/a67791/ch5.htm#17099

Best regards,
Eddie

P.S: Greetings to Joerg, Tom, and to all friends there :)
