Folks,

We will be going to have a PeopleSoft shop with Oracle 9.2.0.4.0 64-bit version. And also, we are planning to buy ORACLE RAC.

1. Is ORACLE RAC necessary for high availability?

2.If I buy ORACLE RAC, Don't I need to buy Veritas?

3.What is the difference between ORACLE RAC and Veritas?

Thank you,

Cathy

1. RAC is not absolutely necessary for HA. You could have a failover HA too without using RAC.
2. For RAC Veritas is not a necessity. You could also implement on a Sun Cluster.
3. Oracle RAC is only an implementation of Oracle db server, Veritas is one of the HA layer(solutions)available.
