We wish to implement a 2 node server cluster using windows 2000 advanced server. The hardware proposed is intel xeon 2.5 with 4 processers each i.e. total of 8 processors. We have a licensed copy of Oracle 8i (8.1.7). The query is whether oracle 8i cluster as described above will support this implementation.

Thanks and regards

Hi,

First, you need to check if your hardware will be able to run Oracle Parallel Server (Oracle's Clustering product for 8i and below, Oracle 9i and above use RAC).

This info is listed on Metalink Certify at http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/certify/certify.istore_welcome

Best regards.

Frank
