Hi All,

Does Oracle RAC need OS Level Cluster as a prerequisite? Which means that if there are 2 servers in a cluster then only i can install Oracle RAC?

OR

Oracle RAC itself has its cluster software and can create a cluster of 2 servers without OS Cluster software.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Hitesh,
RAC needs the O/S level cluster as prerequisite. If the cluster is not available then the software will not provide you the RAC option.
Oracle supplies the cluster for only Linux redhat AS.

Yes OS Cluster is essential. Servers should also have Memory Interconnect.
