Hi,
In case of Oracle parallel server can the same oracle server have multiple instances on different computer systems (nodes) ?
If so can the single init.ora be used for defining all the instances whose files are distributed on different computer systesm (nodes)?
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi ravi,
The architecture of oracle paralle server requires shared disks. Most of the UNIX variants requires clusters to implemt the OPS architecture. Nodes should have same version of cluster software but they can have different version of OS, but should be supported by the database version ( I say this is diffcilt to digest)
You should have 2 instance names( Least implementation of OPS) which are unique to the system. The same init.ora can not shared unless it is modified to the requirements. It is common practice to create rollback segments for specific instances
