Hi,

Last week I upgraded an old 8.1.6 db to 8.1.7 on Windows NT. I created a new instance on the upgraded db. I can connect to the instance, the users that I created on it, access tables etc. using sql*plus on that machine but when I try to connect it from any other machine, I get the error "ORA-12537: TNS:connection closed". Also, if I use Oracle db studio on the same NT machine, I get the same error message.

Any help and guidance is appreciated.

Thanks
Naren

Possible Solution:

1. Delete TNS_ADMIN:PROTOCOL.ORA. If you use TNS_ADMIN:PROTOCOL.ORA, review it for problems. If you do NOT use this file, delete it.

2. Stop and start the listener.
