Hi.
I have installed Oracle9i client on my laptop, alongwith OEM. I have a machine on my network which I am using as a database server machine.
I choose to run it as stand alone.
Now when I run OEM, I get the following message:
Failed to parse tnsnames.ora file
oracle.net.config.ServiceAliasException: 10
I click ok, and OEM asks me to "Add Databases to Tree".
I tell it to use my local tnsnames.ora file which contains the correct entries for all the instances running on the server. But nothing happens.
What is the problem here?
Thank you.
Shakeel.

I have had a similar issue where Top Sessions will not work correctly, even though I can see a database on the OEM tree. There was an issue with my tnsnames.ora file. The answer in my case, was to place a "space" before every entry in the file. Yes, lame but it worked for me.
