Hi,
I am using Oracle 9i Enterprise edition on windows 2000.
For changing name of my existing database I want to use 'nid' utility. However my bin folder (d:oracleora90bin) does not have the required exe for 'nid'.
Please and suggest help me so that I can change name of my database.
(I have executed catalog.sql and catproc.sql.)
Thanks.
Regards,
Pratap

Hi,
On Win i dont think that utility would be there, but you can find it on some unix/linux stuff.
On win to change the database name just recreate the controlfile with new database name. To recreate the controlfile first issue :
alter database backup controlfile to trace;
It will create a create controlfile script in ur user_dump folder. Modify the script, change "reuse database" to "set database" and specify a new database name. Open the DB.
Best of Luck
