Like what is written in the subject, I would like to know what is exactly the rowid type. I'm working under Oracle8i and I don't understand what it is.
Perhaps will it help me to understand how to make an id that auto increment when a new row is insert.
Thanks for the help.

While it looks like a character field, it is not, and you need to use the CHARTOROWID and/or ROWIDTOCHAR functions if you want to do much with them.
