Hello,

trying to re-install a 8.1.7. client on a p4 XP home edition machine, I run into ORA-12158 trying to set up a client service with the net8 configuration assistant. The file tnsnames.ora is at its proper place and is accessed by the net8 configuration assistant.
The thing is that everything worked fine at the beginning as described above, then failed (for no obvious reason), and now keeps giving me that error.

Is anybody out there who might help me ?

Thanx a lot.
Andreas

Hello Mahesh Rajendran,
thanx for your interest in the matter.
Meanwhile, I could solve the problem: It was not caused by the *.ora files, but the env. variable nls_date_format, which had been corrupted to
'DD.MM.YYYY HH24:MM:SS' instead of
'DD.MM.YYYY HH24:MI:SS'
