i'm trying to do the following:

SELECT CATEGORY_DESCRIPTION, PACKAGE_CODE
FROM CATEGORY INNER JOIN PACKAGE_DETAILS
ON CATEGORY.CATEGORY_CODE = PACKAGE_DETAILS.CATEGORY_CODE;

but get :

FROM CATEGORY INNER JOIN PACKAGE_DETAILS
*
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended

any ideas anyone???

Do you use Oracle ??? It's a MySQL script, isn't it ?
Try this:

SELECT CATEGORY_DESCRIPTION, PACKAGE_CODE
FROM CATEGORY,PACKAGE_DETAILS
WHERE CATEGORY.CATEGORY_CODE = PACKAGE_DETAILS.CATEGORY_CODE;
