Situation
==============
I have Oracle 8 client running on a stanalone machine.
Net 8 assistant / config assistant won't startup because there are files missing. SQL Plus will startup ok.
Question
============
I cannot login to SQL Plus ..... have no login.
Is there anyway I can setup this client software on my standalone machine so that I can use it as a development environment. As you can guess I haven't much experience of working with oracle but I need to use it as part of my final year degree project. I'd appreciate any help.

hai friend
with oracle client itself can not start the database
u have to load a oracle database
that will come through personal/standard/enterprise editions
client id just for to access the database where it resides
