Hello,
I got a very strange ORA-01034 error.
database is up & running.
ORACLE_SID is set to pdms
If I run
%sqlplus system/manager
sqlplus connect to database successfully, and SQL> prompt appears.
If I run
%sqlplus system/manager@pdms
sqlplus got ORA-01034 error, even though pdms database is up. But after that, sqlplus asked for username again, I type "system", then password, I typed "manager". This time sqlplus can connect to database.
Why is it like this? Please help.
Many thanks in advance.

When you connect to a database using
sqlplus uid/pwd@db you are going through sql*net/net80. If your networking environment is not properly configured, and up and running you will get this error even though everything is on the same box.
