I would like to back an oracle9i DB without storping it for DR purposes. Backup A on machine x and restore it on machine y. Can someone please send me procedures (oracle and unix) or point me to the neccesary documentation. Thnx

If you are planning to use RMAN, also take a look at www.otools.com.ar to test a graphical reporting tool that helps to look what bakcup's are being done.

If u dont want to use RMan then u can go for
deprecated tools like EXP/IMP tools and
3rd party tools.
Oracle recommends RMAN,
and RMAN has features like
with catalog#
and without catalog backups features.
