RMAN backup hangs [message #684756]

Dear Support,

I am in a difficult scenario and i need your suggestions.

On the production server we have installed Oracle database 18.3.

The database instance is Up from last 4 months.

I have just started working on the DB and tried to take the backup of the database using RMAN and even try to EXPDP.

The size of the Database is around 20 gb. During backup process RMAN goes in to non responsive mode and time goes up to 1 hour 30 minuts plus.

some of the sessions blocks the backup operation. their detail is available below from alertlog file.

Alertlog file detail:

Final blocker is session ID 3399 serial# 17211 OSPID 17979 on Instance 1
No resolution will be attempted by Hang Manager

DIA0 Critical Database Process As Root: Hang ID 178 blocks 1 sessions
Final blocker is session ID 1136 serial# 65020 OSPID 17984 on Instance 1
No resolution will be attempted by Hang Manager

My action:
When this error is raised and DB response time goes to around 800 milliseconds I killed the RMAN session

the OSPID process detail is as below

ps -ef | grep 17979
oracle 17979 1 0 Mar30 ? 02:25:45 ora_dbw0_orclTAG
oracle 31270 2140 0 11:06 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto 17979

ps -ef | grep 17984
oracle 17984 1 0 Mar30 ? 02:39:27 ora_ckpt_orclTAG
oracle 31455 2140 0 11:10 pts/0 00:00:00 grep --color=auto 17984

Please advise me to solve this issue.
Also if I want to upgrade the DB from 18c to 19c How can i do that.

how can we tell what's wrong with your rman job without seeing the rman script/commands that you used? Please post the _formatted_ code.

In addition to Ed's post, you say DataPump (EXPDP) hangs too? Could you also show us any output from that also please? Additionally O/S details may be useful too.

@Gazzag - easy mistake, I've made it myself on occasion. The OP hasn't responded in about a month, so we can only guess that he is no longer "in a difficult situation".
