Hi,

ORACLE ENT VERSION 11.2.0.4

I have some columns which is encrypted and the encryption key is manage by 2 unit of hardware security module. Recently one of the HSM server was down due to hardware problem but my database is still running fine so far .

I need to apply the latest ORACLE security patch and it will require a instance reboot and I have limited knowledge on the HSM .

so my question is :

1. During instance stop/start , will Oracle crosscheck if the faulty HSM server is online ?
2. My Worry is once I stop/start the Oracle instance , the instance will be down due to the faulty HSM server ?
3. How do I cross check in the oracle configuration that it is pointing to the NON-Faulty HSM server ?
