Hi,

for my customer I need to evaluate the following:
Lets assume Oracle Standard Edition 2 (19c). I have installed three Oracle databases (on 3 different dedicated servers): A Development, a Pre-Production and a Production Environment.
I want to license it via Named User Plus (NUP) metric.
If the employee, lets call him John Doe, is working in all three environments (not at the same time but sometimes here and sometimes there) - Do I need 3 NUPs for John Doe or do I need only 1 NUP?

Thanks!

P.S: I know that SE2 has a minimum of NUPs but my question points towards counting of single employees on multiple environments.

And if oracle decides to audit and finds you out of compliance, is your defense going to be 'some stranger on the internet said I was OK'?

All licensing questions need to be directed an authorized oracle representative.

All I want is an educated guess, not more. Nobody here will be judged for "wrong" answers Smile

You have to license everyone who can use the software, on all the machines. There is no concept of licensing a person once, and then he can move from one machine to another. You really need to get advice from a partner who knows what he is talking about with this sort of thing.

If Oracle Corp. decides to audit, YOU will be judged for wrong answers. Then, what good will be an 'educated guess'?

You dont need multiple usernames if the user is the same.
However you need to have the user minimums, its 10 users per server.

If you had 3 users only across 3 servers running DB SE2 - you need to have 10 users per server equalling 30 users.
