Dear experts,

I am setting up 2 node RAC in ORACLE virtual box machine

while starting cluster getting below error

Error screen shot attached.

OCR diskgroup created using DISKB3.

[root@racdb2 ~]# oracleasm listdisks
DISKB1
DISKB2
DISKB3
[root@racdb2 ~]# ls -ltr /dev/oracleasm/disks/
total 0
brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 19 Oct 25 17:01 DISKB3
brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 18 Oct 25 17:01 DISKB2
brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 17 Oct 25 17:01 DISKB1
[root@racdb2 ~]# oracleasm scandisks
Reloading disk partitions: done
Cleaning any stale ASM disks...
Scanning system for ASM disks...
[root@racdb2 ~]#

Need your help to resolve this issue.

You can best resolve this sort of issue by not using the ASMLib. Use the ASM Filter Driver instead.

Hi John,

ASM instances are up in both node. When I try to start cluster getting below error.

[root@racdb2 ~]# ps -ef|grep pmon
grid 4509 1 0 16:27 ? 00:00:00 asm_pmon_+ASM2
root 23493 13820 0 17:32 pts/1 00:00:00 grep pmon
[root@racdb2 ~]# pwd
/root
[root@racdb2 ~]# cd /u01/app/12.2.0/grid/bin/
[root@racdb2 bin]# ./crsctl start crs
CRS-4640: Oracle High Availability Services is already active
CRS-4000: Command Start failed, or completed with errors.
[root@racdb2 bin]# ./crsctl start cluster
CRS-2672: Attempting to start 'ora.storage' on 'racdb2'
ORA-27140: attach to post/wait facility failed
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:invalid_egid failed with status: 1
ORA-27301: OS failure message: OperatCRS-2674: Start of 'ora.storage' on 'racdb2' failed
CRS-2679: Attempting to clean 'ora.storage' on 'racdb2'
CRS-2681: Clean of 'ora.storage' on 'racdb2' succeeded
CRS-4000: Command Start failed, or completed with errors.
[root@racdb2 bin]#

Did you actually read my suggestion earlier? If you don't like it, you can use udev instead. Anything that isn't the ASMLib.

I can see voting disk is online. But not able to communicate. please tell me where the issue lies

[root@racdb2 ~]# cd /u01/app/12.2.0/grid/bin/
[root@racdb2 bin]# ./crsctl query css votedisk

try to start crsd getting below error. please help

I've already told you, twice, that I would not use the ASMLib. Your choice, your problem.
