Client has a physical server that is running out of space on the mount point that has the datafiles is running out of space however they have other mount points that can accommodate datafile creation as well as migration to these new drives. The database has a physical standby, usually when a new datafile is added it needs to be added to the standby database, since this is a new location would it be the same or would changes be needed to the init files.

Thanks

Set the standby_file_management to AUTO and the db_file_name_convert parameter to the conversion of the files from primary to standby file systems and no more care about this kind of issue.

Michel,

Thanks for the response, if i am moving the current datafiles to a new drive just so as to free up some space on the current drive to allow for growth. How would that work with regards to the standby database?

Thanks

There is (or may be) no relation between primary and standby storage.
You set and manage this relationship using the 2 parameters I gave you.
