I have to prepare a 2 node RAC. Please intimate the no. of Oracle licenses (Database and RAC) required on these two IBM Power 8 series servers. Each server is provided with total no. of 10 cores while only 6 cores are active on each server. These active cores shall be used in single LPAR on each server for installation of Oracle and RAC.

Whether it is Enterprise or Standard Edition is rather important. The core factor for Power is 1, so it is either one licence per CPU or one per core in the LPAR. The partner you are buying from will guide you through all this. If he is any good.

The requirement is Oracle Database enterprise edition. Please intimate precisely the total no. of Oracle DB and RAC licenses required for the scenario mentioned.

Actually I am not much aware of the licensing policy so just asking you that total how many Oracle licenses are required in my scenario...
