Hi All,

We are facing a tremendous slowness in our RMAN backup which takes place in night.

The Catalog server is configured in VIRTUAL.

Here is the Configuration of the catalog server.

Total Physical Memory -> 2 GB
Virtual memory Max Size -> 4 GB
Processor               -> 1

I need your guidance, on how to monitor the network speed between Target and Catalog servers while the RMAN Backup takes place.

Thanks and Regards
Muktha

Hi Michel,

Thanks,

But is there any way to find, that the exact problem is lying on the network line between TARGET to CATALOG servers?

I mean, before monitoring I/O to the DISK, I just want to confirm it.

Regards
Muktha

Always the same way: trace the session.

There is no traffic between the target and catalog database. There is a small amount of traffic between the RMAN client and the catalog database, but not much. Basically, the catalog database isn't doing much at all.
You problem is more likely to be between target and backup device.
