I have requirement of printing oracle reports in large stationary paper through dot matrix printer.Paper size is 15 *12 inch.

I am using forms 6i as front-end tool to generate reports. I am using Run_report_object and previewing report and give it to priter(TVS HD 955).

But somehow full size report is not coming . I am new to Dot Matrix Printing. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Is converting report to pdf and then printing it a good option?

Generally speaking (from my point of view): dot matrix printer = character mode report. If you convert it to a PDF, expect it to print as slow as a dead cow. (It won't cost much if you try it).

Paper size is 15 x 12. You set the report's paper size to 13 x 8.5. These values don't match, so I'd try to fix that first.

Hi,

I had tried changing paper size to 15*12 inch but that didn't work. In preview mode it is displaying full report while printing some portion get cropped .

I had given the paper size as A3,sanfold 15*12. But they didn't work.

Can u please guide me further in this regard.

Thanks. As per your suggestion I have stretched the margin as far as possible . The solution worked fine for a report. later when I made some some changes to that report like fontsize change .Then suddenly It didn't work . Since then I am trying but with no success.Need your help in this regard and please suggest is there any trick involved in this.

Larger font needs more space. If fields and/or frames are set to be variable (regarding the "Elasticity" property), then they might affect the output. See whether setting the elasticity to "fixed" helps.

Thank u very much . it worked . I want to print the report in character mode. while running the report it shows following error :

Font specified by report cannot be found for character set specified by NLS_LANG . Can u please help how to sort out this issue ?

As of the font problem:
Oracle

REP-1352: The fonts specified for this report cannot be found for the character set specified by NLS_LANG.

Cause: The NLS_LANG environment variable specifies a character set for which no font is available.

Action: You may choose a font that exists in the character set specified by NLS_LANG. Alternatively, you may use the Font Alias file to force an available font to be used instead of the one specified in the report.

As of the pre-printed paper: I don't think that you have to do anything special. As you've already set the report to character mode and fixed paper size, all you have to do is to adjust the printer (i.e. micro-nudge the paper up or down so that everything prints into its cells).
