I've RTFM a couple of times.
I spent some time with the search feature. Evidently my searchfu is not strong.

Does anyone have a Parallel Server for Dummies Checklist? After the manuals I'm still not sure enough as to what is and isn't needed.

Suggestions?

does not exist.

Parallel is not a silver bullet for any specific performance problem.
If Parallel always made every thing faster Oracle would make it the DEFAULT; instead optional on per statement or per object basis.

Parallel server was replaced with RAC from release 9.x.
