Hi,

Which installation type we shoud select while installing linux 6.4 for oracle datasbe(12c) purpose, Basic server or Database server?

Also, what packages should be selected(in customize now option) for satisfy pre-installation task for installing oracle 12c?

Thank you for your response Michel Cadot.

In linux installation(OEL 6.4), in one stage(shown in attached image), we can select one option. Our intention is to install oracle database ,so it seems to select Database Server, is true?

I always choose the "Development workstation" option. If I remember correctly, the "server" options do not by default include a graphical desktop, which is a bit annoying. Remember that all you are doing is selecting which set of RPMs will be automatically selected for installation, you can adjust the list at the next stage.

Thank you Mr.Watson for your useful response.

Yes, it seems in "Basic Server" option fewer default packages are installed which is annoying, a simple example is that "Open in Terminal" option is not shown in right-click menu, and package "nautilus-open-terminal" should install manually in order to display it.
